You follow your intuition - you're already heading down the road - it's a path you began years ago but up until now more a wandering.

Live to DanceHerein challenges lie - the success of mass pressures to conform - ie the maintenance of the "status quo".

BUT what are you doing today to be different?  To cut through all the increasing noise of mediocrity and broken promises.

The retailer's indifference to customer service; the models portfolio of same old cliched bikini shots; the advertising agencies plagiarised creative; the culture of conservative thought, blame and stupid rules.

Like a beam of light breaking through the clouds on a rainy day - our attention attracted.

Like English backpackers escaping to Australia during their winter - we seek "something different" and gravitate to the edge of WOW, cool, unique and happiness.

A photo stands out - somehow it's different - it grabs us.

A quirky video suddenly goes viral - "we want that!" the clients cry.

The exceptional experience we're compelled to share like the average bloke and a supermodel story.

A mastery of the basics helps lay foundations for success - otherwise just luck and chance.

In business that's understanding the balance sheet of money.

In marketing that's understanding products meets needs.

In footy that's catching and passing.

In dance, pirouettes to side steps.

In photography, light and exposure.

In all pursuits from masters we learn, in practice we develop.

Are we practicing or playing?

"Innovation is great but imitation is faster" the Manager cries.

BUT that is not enough, there's always more to the pie than the ingredients, most important the love, unique creative story telling and customer experience What Resonates With Me (WRWM) that we embrace; transact; comment and share.

I'm shooting some more portfolio pics over the next few weeks - a new rapid learning curve of two light setups; exposure meters; the duality of light and shadow; Butterflies and Rembrandt's, then the challenge of pose; direction; story telling and at the end of the day; competition and customer engagement.

Bruno, the lead guitarist in our band, mentions the term "RPL" - The Recognition of Prior Learning - we are the product of our past, applied now, this instant, for what lies ahead.

In our past lies the secret to our path.

The journey, the steps, the practice is now captured and broadcast for all to see.
