A Quick Thank You to our DiggersPosted by: Scott Maxworthy in MyBlog on Jun 11, 2011 Tagged in: Untagged

We went to the football last night and watched the Titans take on the Dragons.
There were lots of high kicks and bombs (a very high kick of the ball in the air that the defender has to try and catch)
In most cases they were successful, they practice catching lots of bombs and are paid professionals. The worse consequence a try, or maybe in a final a Premiership, but at the end of the day it's really just sport and entertainment, no one died. In support of sport it does bring people together around a common belief and goal.
In Afghanistan or Iraq, a Digger diffuses an IED, an Improvised Explosion Device, the bomb is real, the consequence is death. The belief, a fight for freedoms and liberties often taken for granted - speech, women, religion and so on. The tribe, our nation, her friends, our family and children.
One word - Repect.
So next time, when I'm watching the footy and see a bomb diffused or I'm cheering at a brilliant team play through opposition territory, I'll take a moment to think and thank our Diggers.
Ignoring a battle doesn't win the war - the common good should always prevail.
